My Intentions

My intentions are for you to come to the page and go to the table of contents. From there you can learn go to the different pieces, but also learn a little bit about why I chose each piece. Also in the main area you will always have access to the home page, the table of contents, and my about me section. I decided to make the table of contents and the about me accessible on any page because you might want to go back to either of those pages, and the about me is there because I didn’t want too many buttons on my table of contents. The pieces I included are mainly pieces that I felt I could relate to or it drew my interest. With two of the three pieces that I chose, I decided that shedding light on the situation may allow it to become a hot topic. There is an epidemic of ignorance in the world, especially from my generation and younger. It seems that most of the people my age have no work ethic, or they believe that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. They tend to forget about the things that are everyday normality’s were once not allowed to us especially as African Americans. The I-SEARCH assignment was always something that I have felt strongly for. Growing up I lived in two different worlds, the first being in what was considered the “ghetto” to the new neighborhood we moved too. I didn’t know any better because as children everyone around me was either Black or Hispanic, and we lived in a lower middle class neighborhood on the east side of Austin, Texas. Then moving to Cedar Park, Texas when it was first in development changed everything. My brother and I were literally the only 2 minority children in the school until middle school. Once we got there racism became blunt, people would say and do things to us just because we were black. Also, because of the stereotype if something happened or was missing we were also the first to blame. Due to the fact that our parents raised us correctly and didn’t accept any type of foolishness from us it was always found out that we didn’t do what we were accused of. That is the worst feeling in the world to know you didn’t do something but be accused of it, and then get punished for it. More attention needs to be given to situations and things of that nature, why can’t our legal system work a little bit harder or take out biasness when the fate of someone is in their hands. The last piece that I chose provoked me because it had me questioning how someone can be a good reader or a good writer. In my webfolio I just wanted to shed light on some topics and then just provoke thoughts on others.
